DESCRIPTION AND USE

VariFilm 600 is a scale & corrosion inhibitor consisting of fifilm-forming actives and a cleaner. The advanced film-forming actives form a hydrophobic barrier on all surfaces, preventing scale and corrosion and is designed to be used in open and semi-open systems containing galvanized steel that are supplied with soft water. VariFilm 600 can also be combined with compatible scale inhibitors fed into the make-up water if water hardness is of concern.

With a single point of injection, the inhibitors used in the VariFilm 600 formulation protect the entire system through the adsorption of a monomolecular film. This film makes it possible to avoid any contact between water and the metal surfaces of the system, thus improving heat exchange. The cleaner in VariFilm 600 reduces the need to inject biocides into the systems and, in that way, protects the natural environment but for superior bacteria control, a biocide program is necessary.

Application of VariFilm 600 reduces servicing times and product inventory with a single-product solution, and simplifies water treatment and program monitoring.

VariFilm 600 is an effective alternative to traditional cooling tower treatments that is safe and phosphorus free, with low toxicity, and is easy to use and monitor.

FEED METHOD & DOSAGE

VariFilm 600 dosage varies depending on plant conditions. VariFilm 600 should be added by an automatic dosing system where the dosage is proportional to the make-up water and depends on the cycles of concentration. The dosage depends on many factors, such as concentration ratio, holding time index, thermal load, total alkalinity, and chloride content. The typical dosage is between 100 - 150 ppm, based on make-up water and cycles.

The recommended dosage is 100-ppm of total product at cycles in the system. VariFilm 600 should always be applied in its neat form. Dilution is not recommended as the product is a micro-emulsion.

Dose vs Time - Cleaning effect

  • N = concentration cycles
  • Typical Dosage: 100 - 150/N ppm
  • Polyamine Kit Residual: > 0.1 ppm
